I'm just becoming enlightened to how much our meat production contributes to global warming. This article claims 18% of human global warming is from meat production. They include the impact from chopping down forests to make new grazing land. With their calculations this is more than all of our transportation combined (13%). The reasons to eat less meat just keep piling up and I keep acknowledging them while ordering more steaks. Maybe I can eat more chicken? Will that help? Chickens don't fart as much, right?
Reasons for me not to eat a cow:
1) Many cows are very cute.
2) Better health.
3) Do my part to lower demand for beef, and lower demand for grazing land.
What's next? Coffee growing contributes to global warming?
